Free Cheerleading Class!

Dance Workshop would like to welcome Britney Ivers to our staff! She will be heading up our cheerleading program in Greencastle. Students will learn gymnastics, proper motion technique, jumps, and stunting, and will have performance opportunities.

A FREE trial class schedule will be…

Grades K-3: 10-11 a.m.

Grades 4-7: 11 a.m.-noon

Grades 8-12: noon-1 p.m.

The regular class schedule for these new classes will begin Jan. 22. If you attend the FREE trial class, you will get your ENROLLMENT FEE WAIVED until May 28 upon enrollment in the cheerleading program! (A $15 savings)

We also have a new hip hop class beginning this Thursday 5:30-6p.m. (Enroll any time.)

Begin your class in Aug. with your measurements taken YOUR FIRST CLASS IN AUGUST. (MUST BE MEASURED BY AUG. 31)

Attend class on a regular basis, we suggest a minimum of 3 classes a week.

YOUR FIRST CLASS IN OCTOBER.

Last measurement and CROWNING OF OUR WINNERS Sat. Dec. 15. Measurements begin at 9a zumba class follows.

Dance Workshop wins Top Junior Petite Group

Dance Workshop won the Top Junior Petite Group at the 2012 Starbound Chicago Dance National July 23-35.

The group consisting of Stelle Knipp, Chloe Gardner, Chloe Watkins and Savannah Black was tops with their lyrical number “Ordinary Miracle”. Congratulations girls!

No Dance Classes Week of July 23

There will be no dance classes at Dance Workshop July 23-26. The studio will reopen July 30 with the current summer schedule. We will announced our fall schedule July 30 and it will begin Aug. 6.

The adults Zumba class schedule is not be affected by this closing. All classes will meet at normal times.

Dance Workshop is Celebrating “National Dance Week”

Dance Workshop has tons of cool events planned in honor of National Dance Week from April 20-29.

We will be offering free children’s dance classes on Saturday April 28. Times and ages for classes are as follows:

  • 9-9:30 ages 3-4 (Jazz and Gymnastics)
  • 9:30-10 a.m. ages 9-7 (Jazz and Gymnastics)
  • 10-10:30 ages 8-12 (Jazz and Gymnastics)
  • 10:30-11 a.m. ages 13-18 (Hip-Hop).

Dance Workshop is also coordinating a Flash Mob routine for National Dance Week as well. Those unfamiliar with the term Flash Mob, it is defined as:

When a large group of people suddenly come together and perform some sort of an action, which draws an audience very quickly. After they perform, the group of people quickly disperse.
 

We’re calling on everyone to get together, learn our routine and help us bring a Flash Mob routine to Putnam County. We’re still trying to nail down a location, but we have something special in the works. The Flash Mob will take place on Saturday April 28.

In the process of having a great time, we’ll be helping raise money for the A-Way Home Shelter of Putnam County.

Here are the dates and times to learn the choreography for the Flash Mob:

  • April 23 — 7:30-8 p.m.
  • April 24 — 6:30-7:30 p.m.
  • April 25 — 6:30-7:30 p.m.
  • April 26 — 8-8:30 p.m.

The cost is $5 per person for each date. All money raised goes to the A-Way Home Shelter of Putnam County. Help support our community with us.

There will also be free Zumba classes offered at the Heritage Lake Clubhouse on April 23 and 26 from 7-8 p.m. with Lita.

We are also having two Glow-in-the-Dark Zumba events to celebrate National Dance Week. Click here for more info of those events.

Glow-in-the-Dark Zumba Event

This Friday, Dance Workshop will host “Glow-in-the-Dark Zumba” at our Greencastle location. The event will take place from 7-9 p.m. and will feature a new Zumba routine that offers a fun time for all fitness levels.

There will be an additional Glow-in-the-Dark event on April 27 at the On the GO Zumba location at Centerbrook. It will take place from 7-9 p.m.

Both events cost $15. Those who attend our two Glow-in-the-Dark events will have the chance to purchase a “Summer Special” package that entitles the card holder to unlimited summer Zumba classes at all our locations for a special price. The offer is only available during these two events, so don’t miss out.

Starbound Regional Results

On March 3, the Dance Workshop competition team competed at the Starbound Regional Dance Competition in Indianapolis and enjoyed a successful first outing of their season. As a studio, Dance Workshop was awarded seven high gold and six gold awards for their routines as well as special individual and group recognition.

Chloe Watkins was named the Top Petite Soloist on the day for her routine “Rock You”. This is the third year for Watkins to be named the Top Petite Soloist for the Indianapolis Starbound Regional. She also was awarded high gold for her dance “Blame it on the Beat”.

Chloe Gardner was also honored with a special judges award for “Great Grape Vines” and earned a high gold for her routine entitled “Bring the House Down”. Stella Knipp was awarded a high gold award for her dance “I Can Only Imagine”.

Payton Watkins, Jordan Adams, Savannah Black and Carmen Bridges earned gold awards for their individual dances.
In duets, Chloe Watkins and Adams placed fifth overall in the Junior Division and won high gold for their hip-hop routine “Wind it Up”. Payton Watkins and Aliyah Denny were awarded gold awards for their dances “Witch Doctor” and “Going to the Chapel”.

Dance Workshop also claimed first overall in Small Groups ages 8 and under after earning high gold for the routine “Sparkling Diamonds”. Dancers in “Sparkling Diamonds” were Gardner Bridges, Black, Knipp and Chloe Watkins. Those same five dancers also scored a high gold for their routine titled “Ordinary Miracle”.

The studio will next participate at the In10sity dance competition in May.

Miss Tara would like to thank the parents for their continued support of their children and the studio. And a big thanks goes to my dancers for their hard work in class and their commitment to excellence. We’re off to a great start in 2012!
